Type Information
Common Forest Wyrms
Forest wyrms are considered the most basic of the common wyrm breeds. They are easy for new handlers to care for and offer a good base for creating fun cross breeds.
Varieties
Leaf Crawler - Common
Diet - Omnivorous, primarily leaves & fruit but will occasionally eat bugs.
Difficulty - Easy. Gentle, friendly & inquisitive. Low aggression.
Can come in a rainbow of colors. Leaf shaped plating is good indicator of breeding. Alpha Leaf Crawlers have many leaves w/ connecting vines. Omegas have very few, small leaves. Fall coloration results in marbled leaf coloration. The tropical variant changes the leaves into a flower.
Horned Wood Borers - Uncommon
Diet - Insectivore, uses single horn to drill for & consume insects
Difficulty - Medium. This is a high energy breed that had a voracious appetite for bugs! Will drill into wooden furniture searching for food if not trained. Arborial, prefers tree canopy & branches for nesting.
Mushroom Gatherer - Uncommon
Diet - Vegetarian, eats a wide variety of plant life but favors fungus & lichen.
Difficulty - Easy. Gentle, curious, eager to forage for mushrooms. Can be trained to hunt truffles. Able to digest toxic plant life with no ill effects.
Plumed Gem Hunter - Rare
Diet - Omnivore, with an unusual dietary requirement. This breed *must* find natural minerals & consume them. Typically the favored minerals are the same color as their gem, & help maintain health.
Difficulty - High. Very particular about their diet, occasionally expensive & troublesome to feed. High grooming requirements. Prone to stealing shiny objects, particularly gemstones. Ground/digested minerals are excreted, resulting in glitter piles that can be an issue indoors.

Marine Wyrms
Marine wyrms are some of the first CDF breeds. They are considered one of the 'common' breeds and offer a good variety of face shapes and fins. Their bright colors often appeal to new handlers.
Varieties
Angler Eel - Common
Diet -
Difficulty - Easy, though prone to biting toes.
Typically display colored banding on a black head. Anglers may carry the colored body trait. Lots of bands are a marker of good genes. An Omega Angler Eel for example will have splotches of color instead of full bands. Alphas have double lures to display their hunting prowess.
Spiny Puffer - Uncommon
Diet- Fish
Difficulty-
Spiny Puffers are one of the breeds who have undergone a few changes in appearance over the years as local populations mutated and changed. Selective breeding through CDF also contributed to this. Today's Puffers are known best for their small, beaked faces similar to the parrot fish. Males of this species have double tongues used for catching and presenting fish to females of interest.

Mountain Wyrms
Released at FA: United 2012. This Wyrm Type is not recommended for the novice Handler, as they can be aggressive and highly protective/territorial. They have small, very sharp, retractable teeth, but do not usually show them unless startled or angry. An interesting quirk about this Wyrm breed is their tendency to carry scars from fights with other cave or mountain creatures, or sometimes other wyrms. It is very rare to find a Growler without some scars or marks, and usually means the Growler in question is a juvenile who has yet to establish a territory to claim and defend. The introduction of High Mountain Growlers or "HiMo" has impacted the wild Mountain wyrm population significantly.
Varieties
Growler - Common
Diet-
Difficulty- Medium
Growlers come in two varieties each with their own quirks. Regular growlers tend to be territorial and moody but much less-so than their High Mountain variety cousins. Growlers with alert expressions and long, straight back ears are most desirable. Growlers with extra large or passively posed ears are less-so.
Tunneler - Uncommon:
Diet- Mushrooms, insects, general stuff you'd find by routing around in the soil.
Difficulty- Medium
Moss Hoarder - Uncommon
Diet-
Difficulty-
Shrieker - Rare
Diet- Insects
Difficulty- Hard
Shriekers are a difficult wyrm to raise. They can be bribed with candied crickets or other goodies, but will not hesitate to scream or sting a handler. They have a potent neurotoxin which can stun potential prey, though it would be harmless to Humans except in large doses.

Mutt Wyrms
Mutt Wyrms are a limited edition breed of Wyrms which resulted from having a bunch of leftover Mini Wyrms after discontinuing the breed. These Wyrms have various features that do not fit in with the regular breeds of Wyrms. Their offspring get a somewhat random genetic variation depending on their appearance. However, any offspring of a Mutt Wyrm, will also be of the Mutt Breed, regardless of what Breed the other parent is.
