Imps

I'm looking at it like the Imp breed is a basic, "main" emotion, with *mutations* being variations. Like Anger Imp can have Rage mutation, which would be an extra spikey/aggressive looking Imp that's a variation on the basic Imp design. (If that makes sense?)
