In a world of unified breeding seasons, does size matter?

Hmmm, that's good news for many people!

But not so for Cogswell and I.

I'd really like a way to breed "down".

So few people own the larger sizes that it might not have come up a lot yet, but I feel that I've adopted a white elephant. All these people are having fun playing the breeding games, but I can't because not that many people will want a Great size nor could they afford to adopt one.

I registered because I heard about how much fun the breeding was and now I find myself completely isolated with very little hope of seeing Cogswell ever have offspring. I can afford standards, but the Greats are a rare and limited purchase. To be left in a situation where I can do nothing but leave him sitting on the shelf is heartbreaking.

Well, if a standard gets bitten by an infected and breeds with cogswell, there would be undead zombie fetus wyrms. Their actually very cute! One floats around this forum somewhere.

- and it's not his size that's causing a problem, teslas don't -breed- their mechincal so they make offspring with each other, but can't do that with fleshy wyrms. It's like an android and a human can't exactly reproduce and have the offspring alive- hench the fetus wyrms, zia n I got the normal fetus wyrm jar babies, while two other handlers did the infected zombie versions.

However, there are tons of wyrms out there and I'm sure cogswell would like friends even if their smaller then him!

Ps, what zia is saying is that you can request a breeding between two existing teacup teslas and get another great wyrm tesla, and minis and above don't come with assigned genders, so you can have the new one be a girl!

I offered my x2 token to Tora to breed standards so there might very well be more ladies for Cogswell to choose from

Are you interested in wyrms themselves, or are you looking to breed Cogswell (that handsome devil) specifically? If the first, it's rather easy to get a wyrmling either from requesting a breeding, requesting a clutchmate from an scheduled (and open for grabs) breeding, or getting a random draw from a Con or on Etsy (Etsy being really rare, though). If Cogswell specifically, HM is quite good about filling in breeding stock for rarer breeds, and/or people are looking into breeding their Teacup wyrms up to Great Wyrms using a "x2 size" token. Never fear! We'll get Mr. Handsome a girlfriend!

I kind of know the pain with my Majora. She is literally the only jungle wyrm right now and very few males to choose from at the moment. If nothing else I am sure someone can help you get some teacups this summer :3 great wyrms are just harder and pricier to breed. For good reason though! Massive detail! He may not get a mating this season but many certainly have their eyes on him!

I talked with HMS.
She says you can use a 2x token as a 1x if you wanted to use it on two Tea-Cups and breed a Standard Tesla.

So I have a summer breeding in the works between my tesla Keziah and Moose another tesla, with hekomi getting a clutchmate and I the other.

Would I only need 1 x2 token for Keziah to get my wyrm to be a standard? And then Hekomi's can be a teacup?

Cause if this is possible then I am totally in the market for a x2 token/charge. Tho I would really just want a use of one. I doubt I'll get another standard anytime soon.

I understand the issue with starting off with a larger Wyrm.
The larger Wyrms are not going to breed nearly as often as smaller ones, and the Teslas do get limited more-so because they are the mechanical breed and can only breed with other Teslas.

If you are interested in getting involved in the breeding game in general, though, there are plenty of ways to do so.
You can always either buy some Wyrms at the Tea-Cup size at a convention, or breed some from existing Wyrms during the breeding season.

If you're specifically interested in Teslas, there will be more of those available at Anime Boston, as HMS has officially announced Teslas will be returning to that con, including some possibly new breeds of them, which will be interesting to see.

In the mean time, I'm not sure what to suggest when it comes to Cogswell. You just may not be able to breed him right away. I will raise the discussion with HMS at some point, but as the first round of Tokens has just gone out, and we haven't even had the chance to use them yet (Summer will be the first time), I don't see her adding new Tokens before Summer, other than the specific gender-bender one she's discussed, but even that one isn't confirmed for summer yet.

If you are interested in starting to breed smaller Wyrms, though, please, by all means feel free to check out the breeding threads here on the forums. Most of my personal Wyrms are up for breedings. There are also many others who are quite nice and generally will allow anyone to get breedings from their Wyrms.

HopefulMonster and I had a discussion last night, and the topic of Teslas was brought up. We decided that in the case of Teslas, we're willing to make a special exception, on the size limitations since unlike normal Wyrms, they do not /breed/ babies so much as they build them from clockwork parts.

So, new policy on Teslas is this: Any size Tesla can breed with any other size Tesla to produce offspring.
However, the offspring may only be one size smaller than the largest parent. (follow the link for examples)

HOWEVER - be aware that when taking a larger Tesla and breeding it 'down' to make a smaller baby, that the smaller offspring will have more simplified traits. The same traits you see on a Great Wyrm will not appear on a Standard. And the same level of detail on a Standard won't appear on a Tea-Cup, there's just not enough room for things like metallic plating, etc.
