"This is an APPROVED breeding project, but has been inactivated.
The project lead is currently inactive.
No breedings have been done towards this project.
To activate this project again, a breeding will need to be done during one of the /main/ breeding seasons (winter/summer)."

Breed Description
The Arcane Seer is shrouded in mystery; it tends to dwell in caves, crevices, and other dark places. Named for their piercing eyes and the strange energy which seems to emanate from their bodies, these wyrms are descended from mischievous Tatterwings and gem-hoarding Swirl Snouts. This elusive creature only comes out at night, therefore making its activities in the wild relatively unknown. However, when in captivity, they are exceedingly loyal to handler and squirm, using their piercing eyes to frighten away any potential threats. They are difficult to train to any extent and are only recommended for the experienced handler. These strange creatures have a tendency to disappear for a few days, only to return unharmed and with no evidence of their whereabouts. Arcane Seers are quite regal and therefore vain; they spend a large amount of time preening themselves and slithering about majestically, viewing all others with a critical eye.
Breed Standard
The Arcane Seer has a delicate, tapered muzzle with a short "beard" resting underneath its chin. Resting upon its head should be two black horns, smooth and angled towards each other. The body must be black, the head grey and with a "marble" pattern. Two sets of markings are required on Standards and above: one from muzzle to forehead, ending in a curl around a gem of any color; the other curled under the length of the eye. On teacups, only the first is present. Occasionally, dot markings may appear, but this is rare. Marking colors must be cool and are usually green, but purples and blues are acceptable. Yellow is questionable and usually rare. Eyes are bright and usually the color of the markings; pupils are slitted and appear fierce. Heterochromia is an acceptable mutation. Present on Standards and larger should be an elegant plume of iridescent blue and green feathers which fan out impressively. Other plume variations, however, are acceptable.
Breed Genetics
The expressed genetics on the card of an Arcane Seer would look something like this:
Horns (XX)
Crystal (XX)
Acceptable:
Heterochromia (xx)
This breed mostly relies on hidden traits to differentiate itself. These traits include
-Tatterwing Marbling
-Tatterwing pupils on Standard+
-Swirl Snout markings
-Moss Hoarder beard
-Tatterwing and Swirl Snout plume on Standard+

Clutchmate Info
Every breeding season, we will have a few wyrms who didn't quite make the cut for the breed standard up for adoption - make no mistake, these guys still make great pets, even for first time handlers! We will post any wyrms which we are releasing from the breeding project here, so you can have your chance to snag one! Cost will be the same as normal HMS pricing.
If you are interested in adopting a clutchmate and taking part in the breeding program, please let us know! Genetic diversity is important to us, and we'd like as big of a pool of potential wyrms to choose from as possible. If you do accept a clutchmate, you will be obligated to provide breedings towards the program when asked in order to push towards standardizing the breed. Please make sure you are aware of this commitment before making your decision! We appreciate any help you would offer. : )
