Suggestions
Lady Masquerade - I think I can make everyone happy by doing smaller snouts, but expressive mouths. Obviously, not ALL Wyrms will have the derp tongue or huge smiles, but I've been trying to make each head expressive and unique, so thats something worth keeping. And one vote for clay tears, duly noted.
Nanorat - Originally, they were given little nubby horns because I didn't think folks would WANT a "naked" headed Wyrm. But if the general consensus seems to be smooth skull is cuter, I can easily make the LC Standards that way. It's actually one less step for me, so I'm fine with it if thats the way most folks prefer it. I am thinking of slightly different plating for them, but I have to be honest, the ear hole thing just looks odd and slightly creepy.
Poppeh - It's not a bad idea....but how to differentiate between blind pale colored eyes and just pale colored eyes?
Nalik - Well, we moved to apoxie to make the horns stronger and less likely to break, (I believe your baby is one of the clay horned generation) but truthfully these have always been wee bitty OOAK dolls/art pieces, and not intended for rough handling. That said, the Fu horns are a bit thicker now, but if I make them ALL thick there's no more variation, and that would be boring as watching paint dry. Could make the thinner horns shorter, I suppose, like in the case of the new Jiao-Di, so they are closer to the head and less apt to catch on something and snap. I think the longer horned breeds will always require more gentle handling than their shorter/no horned counterparts, though.
Kiley - Yeah. The swirled "ribbed" horns were VASTLY easier to do in polymer clay than apoxie. The new horn material, while stronger, is MUCH more difficult to work with, and has some quirks that make it harder to do certain things. I'll experiment a bit to see what I can do, but no promises I can recreate the swirled horns easily. It might be a matter of trading durability for design.
Year - See above response to Kiley on the horn swirls. I will play around with the apoxie and see what can be easily done, but I'm limited by the media I use, and durability is a key problem we needed to address. The clay horns just broke too easily, and wiring them would take twice as long, and not do much to really help. ( I've tried that before, and all that happens is it breaks and you now have to wrestle the wire in place to glue the two pieces together, which makes it harder to get the pieces lined up properly. Royal PitA) The shinier colors would be because I used metallic alcohol inks. The new metallic powders have pros and cons, haven't fully decided which method I'll settle on yet.
The gem hunters could have slightly different horns, but again, I have to see how the apoxie sculpting goes. Your Mule's horns are different and unique, as befits a mule.
OMNOMNOM itty bitty teeny tiny teeeeeeefs! ;D
LOL I would have actually given the Moss Hoarders wee bits of moss clinging to them, but am afraid the dry moss would not hold up well over time. Would be cute for them to have mossy horns.
Tacita - See above comment on horn durability, and wiring. (Have tried it, was miserable, a pain, and didn't work well) The new apoxie horns seemed to have solved the problem for the most part, the rest is just being mindful these aren't mass produced pieced of molded plastic, and can break if bumped about too much.
Skittles - LOL! I could see the resemblance....though they are intended to look like wee bitty scales, as a nod to the fact they are CDF's version of a Wyrm Kirin type of creature.
Smoke-the-Wolf - I had actually started doing the tail feathers longer so they didn't get totally lost in the butt-floof. Can see about not going quiiiite so long on future ones.
Arazia - Yeah, going to be working on different plating for some of the forest Wyrms, particularly the Leaf Crawlers. Horns will be pending my experimenting with the apoxie.
I actually agree totally with the swirl snouts. Did a batch with the more dishy muzzle, and it stuck, but to be honest I'm not in love with the shape. Experimentation there, to be sure.
Platinum Point and Jewel Horn are on my list to revamp, the similarity has been bugging me as well. I have some ideas, may do one or two and offer them on Etsy as "breed design experimental" Wyrms. And after doing some researching, it turns out jade comes in a few other colors, naturally, so expect some new changes there.
Shadra - Hmm. The Anglers it would make sense to have scars, but the trouble is I'm not sure they would show up very well against the black and color banding. I'll put that down as a maybe and see what an experimental sculpt turns up.
Lady - See, the trouble is the same as its always been.....we unfortunately cannot please ALL of the people, ALL of the time. And having the "horns or no horns" option would basically negate one of the genetic aspects. I think this may just be a case of having people breed for what they want. I'll experiment with some head options and see what the majority seem to prefer, and go from there.
