EDITED 1/13/15 to comply with Cruinndrac Farm standards
EDITED the EDIT 1/14/15 - Tyrr needs to learn the difference between breed and type, yesh. XD

Sunfeather Stables

Stable Owner: Tyrrlin
Stable Assistants: None

The Gryphon Wyrm!

Image

Gryphon Wyrms are extremely rare, and little is known about them aside from vague legends and rumors. They live as close to the sky as possible on craggy ridges or high forested mountains. They can be any color, combination, or markings, providing a bright glimpse or dark shadow darting far above. Shy and reclusive, they nevertheless can form strong kin and companion bondings, living in small groups together.

GENETIC TRAITS
Gryphon Wyrms MUST have:
Av (XX) or (xX) - Avian
Fe (XX) or (xX) - Feline
Er (XX) or (xX) - Feline Ears
W (XX) or (xX) or (xx) - Avian Wings

Gryphon Wyrm faces must be a melding of the Feline face with the full beak of an Avian. Nostrils must be nares, and not located at the tip of the beak. Feline ears are a must and are one of the field markings to positively identify it as separate from ear-less Avian Wyrms. Wings are also a must.

Alpha Gryphon Wyrms are *exceptionally* patterned versions of regular Gryphon wyrms. They may have elaborate facial markings (stripes, rosettes, or other extreme patterning) and/or exceptionally pretty wingfeathers. Alpha Gryphon Wyrms also may have:

Image
C - Crystal OR Gm - Gem (ALPHA TRAIT)

Some Alpha Gryphon Wyrms have taken treasure hoarding to extremes, insisting on carrying their most valued treasure with them at all times by embedding it on their faces. This behavior may also be linked to courtship practices. Being the Alpha of the breed, they are quite secure in their ability to defend their "bling."

Gryphon Wyrms MUST NOT have:
    H (XX) - Horns
    A (xX) - Antlers

Horns and Antlers weigh down a Gryphon Wyrm as well as presenting entanglement dangers. While the occasional mutant may sport either trait, it is not desired and the individual will be outcast from Gryphon Wyrm society.

Breeding stock (what I'm looking for)!

As I attempt to bring this breed into existence, I would greatly love the assistance of those handlers lucky enough to have Avian or Feline wyrms to provide breeding stock. Wyrms with the other desired traits (Crystal, Gem) will also be very helpful to have available. I.E. Crystal Wyrms

Clutchmates:

Due to the new stable breeding clarifications, I will be requesting both clutchmates during Farm breeding seasons, and will appreciate it if the sire/dam handlers accommodate my request. However, as I attempt to breed in desirable traits (crystal and plume), I may wind up with only one bred baby that will fit my breeding goals. If this happens, I will happily sell the remaining clutchmate to one of the contributing handlers. Please be aware, though, that any bred babies from this process are hybrid wyrms, not gryphon wyrms.

Several Avian and Feline handlers have generously offered breedings: Ashkaa's UK's Acheron (Fel, M); Smoke-the-Wolf's S'mores (Fel, M); Kai-Nimura's Hobbes (Fel, F); Gardentoaster's Papaya x2 (Av, F); Meloduim's Mango x2 (Av, M)

Autumn 2013

Core traits
Salem x Chainsaw - Nox, M
Salem x Chainsaw - Nix, F
(both clutchmates claimed for Sunfeather Stables - promised reservation of first clutch of established Gryphon Wyrm babies)

2014

Core traits
Mango x Hobbes - Kai Nebula, F (Approved Breed standard)
Mango x Hobbes - Tempest, M

Alpha trait (crystal)
Tudexo x Cloudburst - Mars, M
Tuxedo x Cloudburst - Phobos, M

2015

Core traits
Leno x Nahia

Ooh yes, please! I'd welcome any help establishing this breed. Right now, Avian and Feline Wyrms are really rare, so it might take a while.

Interesting design.
Of course, it'll be hard until the Avians and Felines are officially released.

Without knowing specifically, I would guess the Felines will have some sort of 'ears' trait, so some things should be pretty easy to breed for.

You are more than welcome to get a breeding with my little Corvid, Chainsaw.
Maybe Crystal would make a good match for a first try?

Thank you VERY much! I was kinda hoping you and Crystal's owner would be willing to participate. HM did tell me that there will be more Wyrmy goodness of the Avian persuasion "soooon" but that they'd be rare. :-) (Hopefully my luck will be good at AC and I can snag one at some point.)

*hugs*

This sounds like a really cool idea, I would love to help out if I can. I pulled a diluted RRBBYY domestic feline wyrm from AB. He's not in the registry yet, but I have submitted a form. Anyway, maybe he could help with your project?
