Breed Ecology:
The Snoothorns are a rather elusive breed of wyrms commonly found in tide pools in-between tropical forests and open bodies of water. These pools are perfect for this breed of wyrms who live, hunt, socialize and mate in the waters and on the shores.

Snoothorns are amphibious wyrms who are capable of living in the water as well as on the land so the tide pools provide an excellent place to locate a Snoothorn. These wyrms are highly adapted to this wet tropical zone and have a hard time surviving if moved anywhere else. Their diet is specialized on vegetation found in the tide pools that is rather hard to catch(any movement causes the plant to retreat underground), they have their own way to catch the grass before it goes into the ground.
Image
If they are unlucky in catching the plant they can use their horn to uproot the plant from the ground with a bit of work to pry it from the sand and rocks. If these plants are scarce Snoothorns won’t hesitate to move and find tall patches of seagrass to nibble on.

The very noticeable thing about these wyrms are their horns as well as their three pairs of eyes. Two pairs are located on the face, the closest pair of eyes to the horn are specialized for sensing heat signatures. This small pair of eyes is the only pair that cannot detect color and are used for underwater surveying for any other wyrms, predators or food. The second pair of eyes right above the first pair are regular eyes that function for sight but unlike the first pair and the pair on eyestalks this pair of eyes must be closed when underwater since they are next to useless and can get irritated by the water. The third pair of eyes, the eyes on the eyestalks, are used to survey above the water line, they keep a watch for any predators or visitors.
The horns of the Snoothorns are the other major noticeable thing on these wyrms. Both genders have a different horn shape, the males having a larger horn than females for mate attraction and for fighting other males for females. The horn is a very essential tool on the Snoothorn as it allows them to get food, defend themselves to an extent and find mates, a hornless Snoothorn has little or no chance of survival in the wild. The larger a male’s horn the more attractive he is to the females.

Snoothorns are very attached to their tide pools and they rely on certain water holding flowers for egg laying purposes. Instead of laying their eggs in the open water of the tide pools, the female will find the specific flowers that grow on the edge of the tree line and put their eggs in the flowers. These flowers hold a pool of water from rain and are the perfect nest for the Snoothorn babies since the water keeps the eggs moist and protects the young from hungry hungry predators. Once the babies hatch and grow enough in the flower they make their way out of it and flop and squirm their way to the water to try and catch their first meal. There is minimal parental care in wild Snoothorns, the female will protect the area her flower is in, but any real danger that threatens the nest and babies, the female will run away in order to preserve her life.

Snoothorns come in varieties of colors and bright vibrant colors are very common and seen as a sign of good health and good genes. Darker colors such as brown or black are uncommon and not particularly desirable. The exception is dilute individuals who have pastel colors or Melanistic individuals with bright secondary markings.

Breeding practices
Snoothorn courtship combines elements of both Strikehorns and Nudibranches. Instead of physically fighting, snoothorns decorate themselves in assorted colourful trinkets and paints handmade from natural materials. Anything from shiny things to found man-made objects are fair game, although things easily found in the rainforests take much higher priority over anything unnatural. After a snoothorn has impressed their mate with their collection of trinkets and a clutch of eggs has been laid, the male will leave some of his collection at the nest for the hatchlings to fight over once they all hatch. Usually the strongest baby will inherit these trinkets to gain an advantage over their siblings.

Breed temperament:

Snoothorns are generally a friendly breed of wyrms that have an easy time socializing with other species of wyrms around. Because of their terrestrial and Aquatic lifestyles they come into contact with many different types of creatures. However males tend to become more aggressive during breeding season when they are fighting for females and both genders tend to be more cautious and less friendly to marine wyrms such as darters and anglers who tend to disrupt their feeding.

Non Wild Snoots:

Raising a Snoothorn in captivity is a rather hard task, they have specific needs and a very special diet, but it is worth it. Females are more gentle than males and it is advised that you should house about 3 females for every male, If more males are present in a squirm, fights near their breeding seasons could turn out vicious. Snoothorns get along with most other wyrms and do fine in large groups.

Snootmares:

A rarer occurrence in the wild, Nightmare Snoothorns or Snootmares are the product of two PB carrying wyrms whose baby has been corrupted by their dark markings. Nightmare Snoothorns can no longer be sustained by their herbivorous diet, and instead consume other Wyrms and creatures, if it fits in their mouth the Nightmare will eat it. It isnt uncommon to find a Snootmare living in a totally empty tidal pool, having eaten all of the living creatures within it. Because Snootmares use such a high amount of energy, even their excessive eating cannot satisfy their hunger and finding food is often the only thing that goes through their minds. Once a snootmare has established a stable living space, it is incredibly difficult to evict them. they're crafty enough to outsmart most wyrms, and can become incredibly violent when threatened. It usually takes at least a couple of Alpha wyrms to convince them to leave.
Because of the different levels of corruption in individual Snoothorns it's incredibly common for each nightmare to look totally different from the last, anything from extra eyes to horn mutations are fair game. but each mutation assists the wyrm in hunting it's new prey, and each Snootmare has a different hunting technique depending on what adaptations it has.
