A small brown tabby wyrm with bicolor ed eyes looks up from his conversation with the other Handlers and Wyrms to smile in greeting. When he speaks, his voice is surprisingly deep for one so small.

"Well hello there! That's unusual. Most travelers come via the stone portal charms. You'd be the first in quite a while that's come in through the front door. It's normally hidden by wards so as to be nearly impossible to find......ah. well, that explains it." Looking at the squirm of Gao-Xing on your shoulders, Chuck grins. "Gao have a bit of a sixth sense, and tend to be really good at finding things that are hidden from casual observers. Welcome to The Glade. You can leave any time via the same door you came in, or hold one of the portal stones and think of home. They"ll drop you off fairly closeby, wherever the nearest bit of natural green is."
:chuck nudges a small, oddly carved stone towards you, and gestures with his tail around the small clearing.:
"But so long as you found your way here, why not stay a while and meet some fellow Handlers and their Wyrms?"

I was listening intently to Chuck talking about Gao Xings. That made me think of something, a dream I had had a couple of nights before.
"Chuck, I have a question, can wyrms influence your dreams?" I said, putting my finger in the air like I would during a staff meeting. "The other night I dreamed that I was at a convention where D was, a small convention so not many handlers and thus lots of eggs. I wasn't able to find an egg I liked so I went off and did other things. At the end of the dream, right before I woke up, I found an egg I liked. It had the symbol of rare on it. It turned out to be a 'red Imperial Fu' or so I was told. I am wondering, is it my mate's new Imperial Fu female trying to prod me about wanting a mate?"

In an attempt to get out more before I get my first little wyrms, I had decided to go for a walk in the nearby woods. Something I am now regretting, slightly lost and covered in mosquito bites, I come to conclusion it is not a good day for a walk in the park. Turning abruptly ready to head off hopefully in the direction of home, the sun glints off a stone just a little into the brush. I squat down to inspect it closely before picking it up in my hands.

Immediately, I'm dizzy and I close my eyes to try and retain my balance. As I stand up, pebble still in hand, I notice I am no longer lost in the same forest as before. "I hate my awful luck; at least it's pretty," looking around at the beautiful rhododendron in front of me. "Well it can't get worse!" With this thought in my mind, I continue forward looking at the enormous shrub before noticing the door. I shrug to myself before opening it.

The glade inside is beautiful and seemingly a hang out for handlers and their numerous wyrms. Cautiously I step inside and make my way to the waterfall. Getting closer, I hear handlers asking questions of a beautiful feline wyrm near the base of the pool. Newest to the group, I plunk myself down off to the side intent on listening until my turn.

When the tabby wyrm turns to me, I speak warmly "Hello! I'm new to this place and this world in general but I'm very excited to be able to join. If everything goes well this season, I'll have two wyrms of my own, a frostibou and a shrieker! I'd like to make my home as ready for them as possible though before they arrive. Is there anything I can make for them to feel more at home when they're indoors beyond plant material?"

:smiling an enigmatic feline smile at Moon, Chuck winks:
"The day I profess to understand the workings of the female mind, regardless of species......" he gives the wyrm equivalent of a shrug. "Some of us can share dreams with others, particularly those we are close to. So it's possible. I suppose."

He turns and gives a warm, welcoming grin to the newcomer. "Hello, little Nin! Welcome. " he seems to think for a moment. "Heavy gloves and earplugs might be a good idea for YOUR comfort if you have a Shrieker coming to live with you. Aside from that, a safe, dark place for them to hide in, away from bright lights. Honestly a closet or basement would do just fine. Someplace they can get away and stalk bugs, and not be underfoot. Especially at night. Getting stabbed by a shrieker stinger while barefoot and half awake is a highly unpleasant experience, I'm told. " he chuckles and adds" your Frostibou is likely to be harder, considering your current home. They favor the cold and snow, and enjoy wide open space to roam and graze. Hmm. Perhaps a terrarium planted with grass, and kept somewhere cool? Otherwise, you are entirely likely to find them trying to sneak off into your fridge. "

*stalks along the heavily wooded path, callously crushing the beautiful purple blossoms under taloned feet, sending their sweet perfume drifting in the air. The serenity of the forest is soon broken by the dour mumbling occasionally punctuated by, "OW gerrof you annoying little." followed by a tiny meep growl and thrashing of the bushes. "This is the last Paladine cursed time I buy any strange egg-like gems from those vendors.. never trust the over-glorified gryphs, darn bunch of chicken people they said but did I listen!? OH NO" snorts bitterly and yelps yet again as the persistent and tiny hairy beast that hatched from the egg once again latched on to the tender spot right between her toes. The dragoness had always taken pride in the ability of her beautiful bronze scales to protect her from most forms of harm, yet even still, armored from head to toe, she could not ward off the persistently determined little puffball that always managed to find the exact vulnerable tender spot to latch on and bite. "Worst of all, the bloody things multiplied... a pestilence... a PLAGUE even" the forest echoing with the chitteringly cheerful sound of what sounds like a gaggle of giggling wyrms as the ever tenacious Bathory clamped tiny little fangs down. After all.. better the big grumpy bronze thing then them. As she continues her journey, awkwardly half stomping- half limping along, careful not to crush the tiny Bathory who as yet to let go, determined to prove that she is the boss of the group. "I swear when I get to town, I'm selling you off to the nearest chef" grunt "OW" stop it OWOWWO "flails her wings and kicks out, sending the little growler flying into the bushes for the 13th time that day. Flaps her wings slowly hovering just out of leaping reach of the little growler who continues to hop up and down growlmeeping in rage that her chew toy is out of reach. "Seriously you little rodent thing, if you don't like me GET LOST!" Yet despite all her bluster, she knows this is a battle that will most likely not be won. The matter's only made worse by Specklepuss circling her head wobbling awkwardly on tiny little wings before coming to a plopped landing right the Dragoness' muzzle. "And you? useless little thing? Whatever shall I do with you eh?" though her voice does soften an octave or two as she tries to gaze cross eyed at the little critter who meeps cheerfully in response and curls up to take a nap, proud of claiming her spot as queen kittyfly. She sighs and perches in the nearest tree, staring helplessly down at the squirm of wyrms all wiggling cheerfully to gaze up at her with myriad gem like eyes, soft meeps and peeps echoing throughout the forest "what did I do to deserve this?"

"Well this is interesting..." Mel said while waiting for others to have their questions answered.

His eyes darted back and forth between handlers and wyrms, making note of the friends he saw. There was so much information to be heard that he fumbled in his satchel for his notebook and began scribbling down what he could as fast as possible. A nudge from the white colored fox wyrm on his shoulder made the handler stop. Ah, now would be the time to ask a question that had been brewing in his mind.

"Uhh, Chuck, if I may ask... What are the personalities of the elusive jungle wyrms?" His voice seemed to crack and he shuffled his feet nervously.

A little reassuring yip from Polaris reassured the handler quite quickly. There was no need to be nervous, but Mel was always somewhat nervous when asking questions.

I too was very curious about the behavior of the jungle wyrms, particularly the predatory one known as the Zilla. While I was waiting to hear, the comm piece on my headpiece chirped quietly (apparently I can still get communications from my ship, even though this place doesn't show up on sensors...*shrug*). I had made sure that the comm was set up to only chirp into my ear, so as not to disturb any of the other handlers, think of it as putting your cell phone on silent. The Anubis's engineer was on the line.
"While you are down there, ask about those Tesla furballs." She said. "Mostly, ask if they can be trained to help maintain the ship. Obviously they can get into tight spaces and it would be to everyone's benefit if we could have them help with maintenance. They get to play with our technology, something they seem to love to do, we get help that can get into tight spaces safely to fix things."
"Sure, I will do that." I said quietly.

After a message from my ship I put my finger in the air again.
"If you have a moment, Chuck, I have another question...or more accurately the engineer of my ship has a question. She is curious about the various Tesla breeds and their temperaments. She is particularly in the chainmaille variants...particularly since I mentioned I had bred one during the last breeding season. She is also curious if one can teach Teslas to help with maintaining things."
"Or if they are only agents of chaos." Reth added, helpfully.

:Chuck seemed to pause and think a moment before responding to Mel:
"See, now that's a bit like asking the personality of a cat" , he grins mischievously before continuing, "As a whole we are curious, but every cat is different. Same with the Jungle Type. As far as preferred habitats, foods, and such, that's a bit easier, though still a generalization. I can give you basic information that TENDS to be accurate for the Breeds, though keep in mind every Wyrm is a unique individual."

"Zillas are in fact the ambush hunters. They prefer to lurk in shadows or trees and strike their prey when it's least expected. Bugs, small reptiles and amphibians, or tiny fish are all fair game. They're territorial, and don't really get along aside from breeding seasons.
Treebee are arborial, spending most of their lives in the uppermost reaches of the trees. They nest in dens inside the trunks, often using abandoned bird hollows. They are omnivorous, eating a wide variety of fruits and insects. The feathered tufts are used both as mating displays and also as a means of communication.
Acid Leapers are, as their appearance suggests, very frog like. They vary between tree dwelling and the ground, eat poisonous insects and plants, and their skin is mildly toxic/hallucinogenic to the touch, depending on their specific diet. They're fairly non confrontational as a breed, and are often found in large groups. At dusk, if housed together, their peeping creates a relaxing symphony most Handlers really enjoy.
Lastly are the Strikehorns. They are another carnivorous breed, and despite their sweet outward appearance can be pretty agreesive when cornered. They have a bifurcated upper mandable that allows fora very wide jaw gape. This lets their inner pincers to push forward and grab ahold of their prey. The males lock their curved horns to joust during mating season in an attempt to impress females. The females pointed horns are used as a powerful deterrent to any persistent males. "

A cotton candy colored red panda enters a bit startled by the amount of other handlers. She has Gub and her alpha himo (who still refuses to tell anyone her name) sitting on her shoulders and the rest of her growler herd riding on (mostly biting) her large fluffy tail.
She nervously looks around and then to Chuck "Hello Chuck, I have some questions pertaining to Himo. I have been studying them and their marks fascinate and confuse me all at the same time." She points to Gub. "this one in particular" Gub growls loudly and attempts to bite the pointing finger. "I can't seem to figure out who his alpha actually is and it baffles me that all of his markings but one don't match any other Himo. Can you give me any insight into what any of his markings mean and what part he plays in his clan? He has such a strange personality and I sometimes worry about him as he tries to go after all the really snarly ladies." Gub proves this by attempting to snuggle up to the alpha and she just bites him hard on the tail as a warning. Gub is... Not fazed. "See what I mean?" She then takes out a pen and a tiny notebook that has many markings scribbled in it and eagerly awaits an answer.
