Con Questions

I know these are probably stupid questions, but I couldn't find them.

1. How many wyrms can one person buy for their personal use (not a pickup, not to give away) per day at the convention?
2. Can you have other people buy more wyrms for you/pickups? Say I purchase my limit, but I'm only there one day. Could I have someone else buy more for me?

The 'limits' on Wyrms per day is only for Tea-Cups. There usually isn't a limit on Minis or Standards, but obviously we would hope that someone doesn't come in and just buy all of them and not give anyone else a chance.

-- The limit for personal tea-cups is usually two per day.
-- The limit for pick-ups per day is usually three to four. The person must have a list of exactly who each tea-cup is going to. We will cross-reference this to make sure people are not using pick-ups to acquire more Wyrms. We want to remind people that though this is the hard limit on pick-ups, often times there is enough interest that we may sell out before a person can get the maximum limit for pick-ups. Be aware before signing on to pick up for a bunch of people.
-- If a person has reached their limit for a day, they may not have anyone else pick up anything for them /that day/.
-- They may have a person pick up for them during the other days of the convention.

While we do try to keep track of things, we really do ask our handlers to be honest about what they are picking up for themselves and for others. Obviously, we'll know that a person is futzing the limits if they somehow come away from the con with way more tea-cups than they should. We aren't going to be particularly harsh if, for instance, a person's significant other wants to grab a tea-cup as a surprise, or a birthday/anniversary/Christmas gift or something. However, but we will know if someone is using pick-ups/friends/relatives etc. to get around the limits.

Okay thank you for the reply. My only question is what should someone who is from out of town do? This is really the only con I can attend one or two days of. I've tried putting up a post in the pick up thread but no one has contacted me. With only this con, I could only get a couple wyrms per year whereas there are some people who get a dozen every season ^^;

You could breed them

Yes but that's roughly $20+ extra per wyrm and as a broke college student unfortunately that's not much of an option ^^;

It's $10 extra currently for bred Wyrms, but that helps offset the extra work of having to make cross-breeds and special colors and such that we wouldn't normally be doing.

I understand the situation, but unfortunately the limits are there so that everyone gets a chance at Wyrms at a convention. We sometimes have some available on the forums if you hang around and keep an eye out for things. Other than that, there's not much I can suggest.

Ok, if $35 is to much then, If you cant make it to cons people will do pick ups for you. Also D sells wyrms online sometimes too.
I myself personally do pick ups at any con I attend. You can also try the dragon forum as some do pick ups there too.

Im also a college student so I know how that is but I set aside a little bit every now an then for my wyrms since I know I'll want them

I think that is a situation a lot of people are in. If I recall right there are a few folks who are overseas...so the chances of them getting to a con that has wyrms are incredibly rough. And that yeah, there is going to be the thing that some folks will have the means to likely snag almost a dozen wyrms a year from cons just by the nature of con circuits. It's the rough gambit of conventions and hand made things where supply/demand is going to be a variable. I mean oof, I'm in the lands of Canada...so pretty much every con I go to unless I work my fingers off as a dealer is going to end up costing me about $300-$500 to go to before I make a single purchase. XD

It's rough at times, and in some cases the only real answer is you do what you can. There's likely no real easy way to guarantee a bushel of wyrms outside of the paying extra when you breed them. In a sense that is probably the trade off: guaranteed wyrms but at a financial cost. In my case, I just try to factor them into a budget.

I'm not sure if there is any other solution, it's a project run by mortals so there's only so much a group of people can muster to try to make it fair and fun for everyone.

*edit note* And I'm the slowest typer ever. XD

What everyone forgot to mention is BREEDINGS ARE AFFORDABLE. You pay a down payment for them and pay the rest when they are done. You don't have to pay in full up front. Which at this point can be a few months which is a great thing if you get only a certain amount of free spending. Also hi again ^^;

I am lucky in that I can travel the con circuit, as a dealer, and get maybe one wyrm a day for all three days of the con. I usually don't have enough time to do pick-ups too, which is why I don't volunteer.
Breeding is a great way to get the type of wyrms you want, in the colors you want, rather than the blind draw at cons.
Yes, it costs more, but you have more control over the breed and color, so there is a trade-off.

As was said above, you don't have to pay the full amount up-front. You have time to save up.
Lastly...wyrms are fun, but get only what you can afford. You don't need to have a huge squirm right away. Save up, and you can get some great wyrm friends!
