From Staff to Handler
Hi! I'm Lonnie.
Some of you know me as LonnieAnn, former Assistant Sculptor for CDF, some of you know me as Beerhorse. I am an artist and have been drawing all my life. First it was Lord of the Rings fan art (back before their was a movie!), then it was X-Men fan art (Back when it was just a comic!), then it was my friends LARP characters and finally I discovered the Furry Fandom in 1998 and started drawing people's Furry Characters. I was SUPER active in the furry fandom for quite a few years. The encouragement and support I found there for my art gave me the courage to give up my corporate accounting life and go back to school for Art. That was in 2006. I was 29.
I just graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in March 2013. I have a BFA in Sequential Art and I'm in the process of building the readership on my web comic, Almost Normal, http://www.shesalmostnormal.com. I've got a couple half written graphic novel scripts I plan to get back to, some long overdue commissions to very patient friends, and an installation gallery exhibit I promised my community college a while back. That last one's a doozy and I have some fear to overcome in regards to it first!
I'm also a rookie Caricature Artist! I've been working at Six Flags New England this summer, and I've also partnered up with an event group to do parties and fairs. I'm really enjoying doing art that my family gets and enjoys for once, and look forward to doing more in the future!
I can't remember when I started sculpting. It was just something fun to do and I happened to be good at it. It was never more than a hobby for me. Most folks didn't even know I sculpted before I started working for CDF. I would like to keep up with it though, I just have to find my own niche with it.
So anyway, that's me! I'm looking forward to breeding my Rarittie to a couple dragons and getting little wyvern babies, and I'm looking forward even more to having a real job so I can buy more wyrmies!
Thanks for reading!
