Breed Re-boot Discussion

Alrighty flighty do all....been picking about in my brain to decide which breeds need a wee bit of an overhaul. and since this is, by and large, a game for the player, I thought I'd let you all chime in with your ideas. Now, a few caveats....

This subject is to get feedback. This is NOT a "Tell me how to entirely remake each and every breed and I will sculpt according to your most capricious whims."

This IS your chance as players to tell me what YOU all like or dislike about the Wyrm breeds of CDF. I know for example some people favor the shorter muzzles on Jiao-Di. That's the sort of thing I'd like to know. Pipe in with things you like, and dislike, about different breeds of Wyrms.

Example of things that can't change - Growlers have big floppy ears that the position of expresses their mood, like most animal ears. You can't breed for upright ears all the time, or floppy all the time. It's however I sculpt. That particular Growler, depending on their personality as it emerges. (Trust me, the little buggers have a mind all their own...)

Likewise, Plumed Gem Hunters always have a gem in their forehead, and a feathered tail plume. They also tend to have a longer, more beaky muzzle than the other Forest Wyrms.

Example of things that CAN change - Jiao-Di having shorter muzzles, or painted teardrops instead of sculpted clay ones.

So, go on and throw in your 2cents! ;D

Ooh Jiao-Di talk, this is something I can get into! -puts Eli on her lap to help her discuss-

I personally like the bigger snout a tad better, but I'm open to a change of it being smaller, no doubt again that. I think I like it on Eli because you gave him this giant smile on it which makes me laugh a bit at how cute it is. Snout changes I don't mind, though I like how the bigger snout looks on Eli.

The tears. Hmm, I want the tears to be clay. It gives them a "pop" and a more 3D effect that you wouldn't get painting them on. ouo

Hmm, Ill throw my 2 cents in! Hope you dont find my opinion annoying, it's just my opinion, so just ignore it if you like.

One thing that's puzzling me - leaf crawlers dont have the horns trait, but standard size does have them?.. Even though they're not in the trait list? It's very confusing when looking at standards; they're almost identical to mushroom gatherers Mushroom Gatherer Standard - Leaf Crawler Standard... I wanted to get myself a leaf crawler standard but this little problem thrown me off. Those non-trait horns on standard size are confusing and make two breeds look much more alike than their tea-cup size, plus making it hard to plan your breedings - if I want a standard leaf crawler without horns, like a tea-cup, how do I make sure it doesnt have them, if they're not on the trait list, how are they passed down to offspring?..
So my suggestion is - if there's no horn trait on pure breed leaf crawlers, Id suggest a tiny change so that standard+ leaf crawlers dont have any horns, according to their trait list and to be different from mushroom gatherers, like their tea-cup size. Id really love a nice smooth-head leaf crawler standard, just like the tea-cup, but bigger and cuddlier. <3 And getting smaller horns, well, it could be set to have something to do with Horns trait genetics, like XX - long horns, Xx - short horns, etc. something, if loosing shorter horns is not an option?

Maybe some Gao-Xings have their eyes open but are clear/light blue colored to make them look blind?

Yeah the standard leaf crawlers and mushroom gathers confused me a bit too.
I also would like the teardrops still sculpted on. cx

I know the thinness of some of the horns has always annoyed me. I always think I'm going to accidentally break a price off Imperi's horns.

I like the shorter, closer Jiao-Di spikes like Parkay has as opposed to longer, straighter ones that most of the others have. I also do like the shorter Jiao-Di muzzles.

I also kind of like the older style of horns, that has more..ribbing? on the horn. The ones now are smoother. Or maybe I'm just crazy. XD
The style of Oicheros's horns vs. Bastian's.

well, i really dont have much that i'd like to see changed, and theyre mostly just little minor things X3

firstly, i really like the shorter muzzes on the Qui-lins, similar to the one Onwa has. i dont really mind the longer muzzles on any of the other breeds, though. C:
The shorter muzzles would be absolutely adorable with the new scale style that you've been using C:

next, I'm not fond of the new horns on the Jewel horns. i think the long smooth horns look sort of strange, but i really like the style that Avalon has and they even look a little shinier than the smooth horns?
Maybe a hybrid of the two horn styles would look cool, it could be long with a few swirls around it maybe? :D

and Lastly, the horns on gem hunters. I feel like the horns on the gem hunters dont represent how fancy they are, if that makes sense? i think a different style of horn would fit them better. Maybe something really elegant and Curvy, or something like Magnus' horns (because i love his style of horns so much <3!)

Although, i do really like that the anglers have leetle tiny teeth now! it really makes them look menacing, but also waaaay too cute for their own good X3
and originally i wasnt a fan of the moss hoarders because i thought they all looked the same, but after seeing some at FTM, i love how each one has distinctive markings that set them aside from the others! <3

Anyways, i hope this was okay!i just wanted to throw my opinion out there C:
But wonderful job as always, D! and i cant wait to see what changes you make to the breeds! C:

EDIT~ i also agree with everything Kiley said, i absolutely love the Style of Parkay's Spines, and i'd love to see more Ribbing on the horns, Like Othello and the older wyrms have C:

This seems to be a pretty big issue with a lot of the delicate horns wyrms have. Perhaps you could reinforce the horns with a bit of wire? Even a thin paperclip wire would help support the delicate clay that makes up the horns. You could just push the wire up through the horn and snip off the excess wire. Same could go for the growler's ears if need be (I don't know how thick those are, but if people have problems with the ears breaking then the wire would definitely help).

As for other wyrm breeds, I do like how some of the growlers have tiny scars and such. It'd be neat to see little physical flaws on certain special wyrms as well. Perhaps some anglers? They seem a little more vicious like the growlers.

Edit: A blind wyrm that's not a Gao-Xing and has its eyes open would be super cool as well.

I would like the Jiao Di's muzzles to be a tad shorter, I think they look really cute with a short muzzle. And I like the old Qui Lin's better, I like the shorter muzzle and the stripes on the nose. On the new ones with the spots, I have a thing with small circles close together(reminds me of fish eggs) So it kinda grosses me out. That's all

Not much I wanted revamped/changed. But while I was doing some Wyrm picture and card croppings for Zia I noticed something about the teacup sized Plumed Gem Hunters... Like on Grell's plume the feathers/plume look a tad to large in my mind. Maybe they can be clipped just a tad? They just seem a bit off...
