Shar'sha had been acting strangely as of late, with Tiri away at the Casa De Wyrm spa. I was getting worried, having a mopey fairy wyrm wandering around my quarters was proving a bit troublesome. Apparently moping fairy wyrms tends to lead to strange bits of magic happening. I realized that she was missing Tiri, her favorite friend, but this was a bit much.
"Shar'sha, what is going on?" I finally asked her.
"I miss Tiri, when will Tiri be home?" She said. "Why did she have to leave for so long?"
"I took her to the Casa De Wyrm spa, since she had such a hard time of it during the last breeding season." I said with a sigh. This I had already explained to her when Tiri first left.
"When will she be back?"
"A couple of weeks." I said.
"That's too long." Shar'sha said with a near sob.
"Shar'sha, my dear little one, I know you are friends with Tiri but this is more than what is usual for missing a friend." I said. "Is there something more going on between you and Tiri?" I asked, looking at her very curiously.
"What is the word for when you want to be more than just friends?" Shar'sha asked. "Like you and Mar or you and Tige. When you like to be close and cuddle?"
"The word is love." I said, wondering where this was going.
"I think I love Tiri." Shar'sha said. Well, I thought, that would explain a few things.
"And does Tiri know?"
"No."
"You might want to tell her and see how she feels."
"I will, AS SOON AS SHE GETS BACK." She practically growled the last part, since she was still very interested in expressing her displeasure at Tiri's absense.
A few weeks later...
"Tiri, you know Shar'sha has really missed you." I said, before taking Tiri back into my quarters. "And I think she really wants to talk to you about something very serious."
"I know." Tiri said. "I assumed she would."
"Tiri?"
"She is very attached to me." She said. "And she likes to be very close to me, which I don't mind. Don't worry, I won't break her heart."
"I hope not. I don't want to know what sort of magical mess she could make if she was really sulking."
"Shar'sha, be a dear and come over here." Tiri said, motioning to her traveling den, a lavishly appointed cat sized carrier. "I understand you have something to tell me." She said as Shar'sha flew into the carrier. Tiri closed the door with her tail.
I wasn't sure what would happen. I imagined that it was going to end one of two ways. Either I was going to have a fairy wyrm shaped ball of tears in the morning...or a fairy wyrm shaped missile who's antics would leave my most experiences fighter pilots and the Anubis's pilot all turning horribly green.
I didn't hear anything from the carrier for a bit so I went to bed. A couple of hours later, I started to hear strange noises from the carrier. Not sure what to make of the noise and, finding them highly annoying, decided to drop a sheet on the carrier and go back to bed. I used my sorceri skills to move a spare towel from my linen closet and onto the carrier.
The next morning, I woke up...and promptly pulled the blankets up over me. Shar'sha was doing flips and all sorts of stomaching turning acrobatics and putting off hordes of little balls of light. I knew those balls of light and their evil, horrendously sticky glitter that required dang near de-furring what ever part of the body it touched to get rid of the glitter. Well, I guess last night went well for her.
"So," Tiri said. "I have heard rumors of a gender bender token...where do I get one?"
