Black Friday Announcement

The Staff of Cruinndrac Farms would like to make the following official announcement.
Going forward, CDF will no longer take part in Black Friday weekend. This includes both the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after the US Thanksgiving, as well as Thursday, Thanksgiving itself. It has come to our attention that a disturbing trend in businesses being open on Thanksgiving Day is growing. Corporations, in an attempt to maximize profits, are opening on Thanksgiving Day itself. In many cases, employees are given the choice of either being forced to work on this day, or lose their jobs.

In an attempt to show solidarity with the employees being put in this untenable position, and their families, we at CDF are opting to hold our seasonal post-Thanksgiving sale on Cyber Monday. NOTHING will be posted by CDF for sale during this weekend.

We encourage our Handler community to spend this holiday weekend with family, friends, and loved ones. Be thankful for the things you have, and spare good wishes and positive thoughts to those who are perhaps not in so good a place.

And for those so inclined, we are providing a link to a Facebook community that is showing their support. Remember, if no one goes out shopping on Holidays, and instead opts to stay home, the companies will have no reason to continue to remain open on these days.

I commend you guys for doing this. It really isn't right to make people work when they should be spending time with friends and family.

Really glad to hear this. My part time retail job is opening on Thanksgiving at 6pm so I'm definitely in support of your decision.

110% support this decision!

I have ranted about this so much. I really don't approve of the stores opening at midnight on black Friday either as that still puts employees in a difficult position during Thanksgiving. My Boyfriend has to go in at 10pm on Thanksgiving to open his store at 12 :/. So that gives him no real option to visit family out of town :C.

It is progress though. Even if it is slow. I remember when the earliest stores opened on black Friday was 7 or 8.

What a great decision! I agree, the Black Friday weekend hours are way out of hand. This year I managed to get out of working that weekend at my retail job because I already work weekends at my other job, in a library. (Granted, I don't work the whole day on Friday and Sunday, but the store doesn't need to know that.) They ask for volunteers to work Thanksgiving, but even though my parents will be out of town that day and we'll be having our big family get-together on Saturday, I refuse to work on Thanksgiving just on principle. :)

I look forward to what kind of cuties you have on Cyber Monday!

Unfortunately I work with live animals (at a doggy daycare and boarding place) so I've got no choice but to work the holiday, but hey, that's because we have to take care of the dogs and my bosses are super chill about our hours on the holiday itself so I still get plenty of time to spend with my family.

But I agree that if you don't have to work on the holiday then there really isn't reason to. I was just thinking today about how people in this country push so hard for productivity and that's why people burn out so easily. It's just too much. The very least most companies can give their employees is the ability to spend a few short days with their families during the holidays. I'm in full support of you guys on this and I hope enough people around the country speak out and these decisions can be reversed.
