Anthrocon is a little over a month away.
Are you excited?

We are, and we have a few announcements to share with you.

Convention Purchase Policies
We are making steady progress on our convention stock, and hope to have a good number of Wyrmies for you all at the convention. As a reminder to those who have visited us before, and as info to new-comers who are visiting us for the first time, our sales are handled as follows:

1. During the opening each day, we have a 'list' where we will take down the names of people in order of them requesting to be put on the list. When you get to the table, please ask politely to be put on the list and give us your name. We will handle the initial rush by calling out names in the order they were added to the list and giving each person a chance to choose. You may begin to look at the eggs that are available, but please do not push, shove, grab at eggs. Anyone caught grabbing, pushing, shoving, or preventing someone from getting to eggs may lose their place in line.

This process does mean that for Anthrocon, those who are sponsors and have early access to the Dealer's Room do tend to get on the list before general admission. We also sometimes allow other dealers a chance to pick early as they have to get back to their tables for sales.

Also, please keep in mind that this is a convention where the attention we get often attracts new handlers. Please, please, please, be aware of those around you and if you see some shy person who looks uncertain, try to help them. Make sure they get on the list. Be nice to them.

2. We put out about half of our day's stock in the morning. This should mean that most people in line will have a chance to pick up an egg or two. We usually limit each handler to no more than three eggs in the initial rush, which allows everyone a chance at things. We also usually allow no more than five eggs per day, total. Be aware of the limits. While we expect to have more eggs than we usually have at traditional conventions, we hope that the limits will allow them to be spread around a bit more.

The remainder of the eggs for that day are put out randomly throughout the day. We started this last year, as having pre-announced re-stock times was causing a bit of a traffic jam around the table. For example, if we get someone new who comes by and is interested in the game, we may sneak an egg or two out. Or we may go: well, no one is around, let's restock now! We can't guarantee when we will re-stock, but we usually will put out small batches throughout the rest of the day. You're welcome to hang out and talk with us, but try not to stress or stalk the table for these re-stocks. There's a whole con out there, go enjoy it.

Wyrm Handler's Meetup
We have confirmation that we will be having an official meetup again at Anthrocon. Bring your squirm and your camera for our traditional group-photo. The tentative date/time is:
Cambria room on Friday starting @ 6pm

Special Nest
We will be having a special nest of eggs available as part of Anthrocon this year. As a way of acknowledging our wonderful community and the great people we've had working for us in the past, I made it my special project to reach out to members of the community and former sculptors, asking them to create a batch of mules for this special nest.

Who is participating as a Guest Sculptor? Well, that's a secret and part of the fun! Even those who are involved don't know who else is part of the project. It's all hush hush very secret. The only way of knowing is to try to nab one of these eggs for yourself. If you're part of the project, and you know who you are, keep it to yourself. Shhh. It's a surprise!

There will be about 8 eggs per day in the special nest (about 1 egg from each of our guest sculptors). We will restrict these to 1 per person per day, so that everyone gets a chance at these eggs. They are obviously all non-breedable mules, but they also will vary in price due to details.

Issues with Standards
After casting the breeding season standards, we realized that our molds were starting to break down. Right now, we do not have the time/funds to replace these molds, so we plan on having the Standards for Anthrocon as the old-style, hand sculpted versions. We want people to be aware, that while these are hand made with more varying expressions and are truly OOAK, that they are a bit more fragile than the resin standards.

HopefulMonster wanted me to ask if people had a preference of Resin vs. Sculpty for standards. Right now, alas, we are not getting as much time/money savings as we had hoped from resin casting the heads. She wants to note, though, that if we were to go back to making Sculpty heads completely, that it would mean a dramatic cut in the number of standards available each season.

In addition, we are on the look out for anyone who might be knowledgable about resin casting who might be available for work. Much of our issues is lack of experience, and if we could find a vendor who could cast for us, it would probably minimize a lot of the trouble we're having. If you know of any people who are dependable and would be looking for resin casting work (should be experienced in art-dolls, etc. if possible) please shoot their names/contact details our way via PM.

Oooh, so excited for AC! Thanks for the heads up and I do hope everyone has a good time and we get a horde of new handlers!

As far as the Standards go, is this going to affect the ones from last year's breeding season, too?

- what day is the PJ tea meetup?

/I will be bringing Big Q on Friday ONLY. Due to his massive size and weight.. And I'm not leaving him in my car AT ALL. So anyone who missed seeing him in person last year - Friday will be the only day I will be lugging him there XD. He's not pleased about being told he's not allowed to eat any of the smaller wyrms.

Tyr,
No. The ones from previous seasons were cast and are being worked on now. Future casts I'm not confident in the quality of detail without remolding, so I'm not using the molds any more.

I have a few ideas and will be testing options for standards going forward.I'll keep everyone updated

I for one would like clay standards again for the simple fact that I don't like the texture on the resin ones.

I will be pulling for both HollyAnn and Hekomi, so I am glad there are limits per day. That gives me a chance to find the right colors for each of them!
I think most handlers have been very polite in using the list, with some people giving up their turn to someone new who does not have any wyrms.
Thank you for letting dealers get on the list early! That really helped me last year.

I am intrigued by the 'special' nest. Some day I would love to try my hand at sculpting a wyrm head...tho I can't sew for beans!

Thank you kindly! I was a little worried that your hard work of the past months had gone awry! *hugs* Good to hear it's a "moving forward" thing.

Are the special nest eggs included in the '5 a day' total, or is it '5 a day' regular and '1 a day' special?

Special eggs are counted towards your total per day, yes.
