Reth Visits Crowley
One of those odd ideas that seemed worth writing done. Mostly just a humor piece.
I had to find the perfect beads to show the colors I wanted my baby to be. My handler has a wonderful collection of beads, with all sorts of colors. The only color I couldn't find is that pretty one that I see when my handler watches programs on vehicles, the one she says is that of "machined steel" but I find something close enough. Beside, Crowley is an all powerful bestow-er of blessings right, he will know what I mean when I say "machined steel"...or if he doesn't, I can refer him to the things my handler watches. I had heard that it was important to be precise when asking this particular Wyrm for help, since it would make his life easier...or so Tiri had told me, hence taking beads of the right colors with me to show him. I also find the Indigo beads that show the eye color I want...
"What the devil is Reth doing in my bead collection...again." I hear my handler ask no one in particular. It is a good thing she found me, since I seem to have gotten stuck in her bead box...again. "You know, little one, you are going to need to quit this." She says, more concerned than mad. "One of these days you are going to get stuck and be stuck there all day while I am at work, which isn't going to be fun."
I managed to thread the beads onto a piece of wire my handler left on the floor so I took my little necklace and was off to see Crowley. . I had to ask Tiri how to get in touch with him but she seemed quite happy to help.
Why didn't she tell me Crowley was *gulp* really scary? I stare at him for a while, wondering if I really wanted to approach...but then I think of how amazing it would be if Hatsheput and I had a baby that wasn't a skittish little Omega and I press on.
"Mr. Crowley, sir, might I ask a favor of you?" I say, my voice sounding very tiny. The monsterous wyrm turns and looks at me.
"What can I do for you, little one?" He says, in an amazingly unscary tone for such a giant wyrm.
"Well, I was hoping you could help me, see my mate and I would like to have a baby but my mate is an Omega growler and we don't want our baby to be as skittish as we are. It takes a lot of energy, always being afraid." I said.
"That maybe can be arranged." He says.
"That's great, I was also hoping it would be a girl, with black fur and steel silver plates on her nose." I pull my necklace off and show it to Crowley. "Silver like this." I pointed to the silver bead on my necklace. Getting perhaps a bit carried away now..."I want her plates to look like the polished steel, like the armor plates on the vehicles my handler calls Tanks. I want her to look tough and I can't think of anything tougher than the armor on a...Tiger, my handler's favorite tank. I really wish she drove one to work." (Reth has picked up my history interest, something about maybe learning strategy and tactics will help him able to defend his territory better against more aggressive but less well schooled Growlers) "Preferably with 9 nose plates, that's my handler's favorite number, its in all her bead patterns. And Indigo blue eyes, like this." I indicate the last three beads on the necklace. Three Indigo, three steel and three black, nine total. It is just then I notice Crowley is starting to look bored, he sighs in exasperation at my ramblings.
"Are you done?" He says.
"Yes, I guess." I said.
"Good, I will grant your wish." He said..."Now please, I have work to do."
"Thank you." I said, "and you can keep the necklace if you like, in case you forget any of the colors." I said, nudging the necklace forward. "I made it myself."
"Thank you." He said, sounding more exasperated than pleased.
I headed home, happy to be able to report to Hatsheput that my errand was done.
As always, comments are always welcome.
