How do/did you come up with your wyrm's names?

Not entirely sure how I came up with Cei's name. Just played around with letters I think.

I actually asked Matt, my boyfriend, what I should name my teaspoon last night and he came up with a perfect name for him right off the bat. cx I won't tell anyone until I can register him though!

It took me a bit to figure out a name for Ink, but then I kinda thought "His horn kinda reminds me of an ink nib. Black after dipping it in to write." And there it was.

Hershel... Well, I do hope someone would get the reference why I named my dear tesela wyrm Hershel. Perhaps it is a bit of a puzzle, but maybe I aught to make him a little top hat.

Starting to gather up a list of names for my two winter babies. I don't really know anything except one is a pure growler and the other is a leaf crawler/spiny puffer mix with XX PB. So here's my mini-list:

Growler:
* Aeron- Celtic, goddess of battle
* Akimora- American, based off "Kimora", ruler
* Akar/Akari- Japanese, light/brightness

Leaf Crawler/Puffer:
* Akuji- dead and awake
* Amaris- child of the moon
* Arli- based off "Airlia", ethereal

I'm really leaning toward Akuji for the hybrid. Still not settled on the Growler. I MAY break my A name theme if I can't settle.

Tanisha - A inside joke between me Year and Shadra,

Rabies- My first name I thought of actually but I mostly did it for the kicks.

Well, I officially have BROKEN my A theme! And I've finally gotten some non-blue wyrms GASP. So here's a recap of ALL of my squirm so far:

Paradox's name comes from the fact that swirlsnouts kind of look like they have a question mark on their face.
Mara, the nightmare wyrm. You can kind of tell how it relates.
Snaggle is due to his adorable little snaggletooth.
Agni is inspired by the Hindu god of fire. He's an adventurous, firey little teaspoon.
Azulon's name comes from fire lord Azulon. I'd originally wanted to name him Azula before he turned out male.
Asana's name comes from Assana which is waterfall related. She's a water based wyrm.

And then there's the winter growler who won't be named til after he/she is made I think unless I come up with a great gender-neutral name.

Well for Rita, when I first saw her I wanted to call her Scarlett or Stella, because I've always thought that a wyrm named that would be pretty. Once I saw the interesting color on her plates, I took note of how she looked like a strawberry. For some reason, I was reminded of Rita's icecream/frozen yogurt/whatever it is, and the name stuck. c:

Well WasabiWonton got her name due to a running joke. At first I was going to name her #5 General Tso Chicken after the popular Chinese food dish since she looks and has a Chinese sounding name. Plus I was hungry and wanted food. lol But then I thought of wontons since she has a similar color to them. The wasabi part can from one of the guys in the artist alley. He said her green fur reminded him of wasabi and from there I combined the to to come up with WasabiWonton. Her horns are even colored somewhat like a fried wonton.

Calla Lilly got her name due to her being a Imperial Fu and having a very pretty shade of purple on her face and fur. Calla Lilies are a royal flower that stand for sophistication, charm, purity, uniqueness,and power. A meaning fitting for my pint-sized princess. ^_^

Out of my new batch, I think Ruble and Kaolin are the only ones that should have some explanation.

First Ruble: I'm trying to aquire a large number of Tesla wyrms (I can't tell you how happy I am that inbreeding isn't a problem for them. ^^) and I figured I should have a naming pattern. So I went with currencies based on what kind of Tesla they were: Tuppence is a Tarnished Copper, Ruble is a Brass. In the same vein, a Copper one would be Farthing (or Ha'Penny, depnding on gender), a Gold one Dubloon and my impending summer Tesla, depending on how the coin toss for Umbra goes, will either be Sterling or Nickle.

Now Kaolin: I'm majoring in Ceramics at school and one of the required courses is a technologies class. In this, you learn about the chemistry behind mixing ceramic clays and glazes. One of the things we talk about is clay sources and how there are two kinds of clay bodies: primary and secondary. Primary clays come from one source and are usually found at the base of mountains, carried there by small streams. They need to be mixed into other clays to be functional. Now, Kaolin's parents are Rill (a Gem Horn) and Ginger (a Growler), so Kaolin seemed like the perfect name for her.

As for the rest of my wyrms? I just liked the sound of the names. ^^

Duggan - Two layer joke.. digging/tunneler reference, as well as it meaning 'dark/swarthy', which ofc he's not dark at all being entirely white.
Larkspur - Inspired by the pale blue larkspur flower
Kataba - Short for Katabatikos, greek for 'going downhill'
Tarryn - Drawn on from 2 meanings of the same name, latin: 'of the earth' and irish-gaelic: 'rocky hill'
Orin - Meaning: pine tree, fair, pale; inspired by his brown woodlike head marks and his paler fur.
Dronble - In homage to the person who picked him up at FF for me, his name is an Anagram of one of their RP characters It also sounds rather old and sagely like he looks.
