I'm not minding the random choices since it does help with those whose internet are nothing but a piece of crap. I will admit I didn't like when it was the 'trigger-finger' exercise in the Black Friday sale since many people's streams lagged.
Though I do have a probable suggestion for future homecons if you decide to do this for a long while, for things like this in which you are doing multiple streams across several days for eggs. Since there are some instances in which people's luck may not be the greatest all throughout the time and haven't been able to get something, perhaps on the lastmost stream you would always give higher priority to those that have not acquired an egg yet in the entire convention.
Have everyone that wants something post the codeword and also have them post honestly if they got something in the con so far or not. Take all the names of those who did not receive an egg and then random choice out of that, and if you run out of names and still have eggs left over, random choice out of everyone who is left.
It's just a suggestion, but I still prefer the random draw idea better than the trigger finger one since it is giving a far more equal opportunity. I just honestly regret how my schedule hasn't been cooperating to let me try for more streams.
