So my question is when traiting for a recessive trait
like Tailfin can you have it represent as a dominant
trait (XX) and would the wyrm that has Tailfin listed
as XX pass on a visible tail to it's children.

Yep. Not all traits can be trait tokened, however.

CURRENT LIST OF TRAITS THAT MAY NOT BE TRAIT TOKENED***
Fade from Strikehorns
The neck ruff from Zillas
The Growler tail puff
The Ley Lines trait
2 colored body
Albino/Melanistic
Glow

I think you missed one. Tribal Markings

Also thank you. I have plans that involve a recessive trait so just wanted to know if it was possible.

And this would work with all recessive traits right?
(Love the Harlequin and Pibald traits <3)

Aren't 2-colored body and Albino/Melanistic mutations, not traits? Since their denotation is after the wyrm's rryybb color genetics? I assumed that no feature denoted after the color genetics could be traited for.

In general, most mutations cannot be trait charmed. This includes, but is not limited to:
Melanistic
Albino
Two-Tone body
Flamepoint
Growler Tail-puff
Zilla Neck-ruff
Eyecolor
Fade
Rare gender dimorphism

Traits on cards that cannot be charmed: (to my knowledge)
Glow**
Tribal Markings
Leylines
Dark Magic
Wyld Majick

Special Exceptions:
Glow can be glow-charmed (so long as one of the parents has the trait).
Color charms can be used to influence horn color in species that horn colors vary.
